It drove home, with painful clarity, just how delicate young minds can be when faced by life&#8217;s pressures. <em>What could possibly be going on in a young kid&#8217;s mind to even fathom such violent thoughts and then action it? </em> It’s heartbreaking &#8211; and it’s one of the reasons why I feel so strongly about sharing <a href="https://shubhrajainyoga.com/childrens-yoga/">Hatha Yoga</a><a href="https://shubhrajainyoga.com/childrens-yoga/"> with young people</a> as a powerful tool for mental and emotional well-being.</p>								</div>

									<p>During my six-month <a href="https://shubhrajainyoga.com/about/">Hatha Yoga</a> teacher training at Sadhguru’s ashram in India, I witnessed how these ancient yogic practices could transform the minds of fully grown adults. Alongside 200 other trainees, I experienced this first-hand. On the surface: calmer thoughts, better sleep, higher energy levels, increased strength, and improved flexibility. For many of us, the transformation went even deeper &#8211; lasting inner peace, joy beyond words, a fresh perspective on life, and the ability to reach deeper meditative states. It made me wonder &#8211; if Hatha Yoga, taught in its purest classical form at Sadhguru’s Isha Yoga Centre could rewire well-established adult minds, what wonders could it bring to children whose minds are still developing?</p><p>Sadhguru says: <em>“Whatever the external situation might be, if you can maintain an inner balance without any suffering, this is yoga.”</em> To paraphrase, the very essence of Hatha Yoga is to make your body and <span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">mind in such a way that you can maintain inner<br />stability and resilience regardless of what is going on around you. Imagine if<br />more young people learned Hatha Yoga early in life, gaining the tools to<br />regulate their emotions, shift their perceptions, and cultivate stability<br />within. Many of the struggles we see today &#8211; especially the extreme cases<br />depicted in </span><i style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Adolescence</i><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"> &#8211; might be<br />prevented.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"> </p>								</div>

									<p>After completing my Hatha Yoga teacher training, I had the privilege of conducting review and correction sessions at the Isha Vidya School in Coimbatore. Watching a room full of bright-eyed, curious, and disciplined young people practising Surya Shakti, Nadi Shuddhi, Surya Kriya, and AUM chanting was immensely fulfilling. In breakout sessions with a group of girls, I asked them “How does Yoga make you feel?” I distinctly remember their sharings, that Hatha Yoga had made them feel happier, more confident, and more at ease within themselves.
